After 30 years of experience in the appliance/electronics business, Lester Hamai decided to venture out on his own. Lester and Clara Hamai founded Hamai Appliance in September of 1969. Their son Clyde, joined them later that year, and in 1974, their oldest son, Glenn, made the family’s involvement in the business complete. In March of 1977, they relocated to a larger building in Kahului, and added a second location in Lahaina in 1982.  In 2006, Garret Hamai joined his father Clyde and uncle Glenn Hamai. They now run the business, taking it into the 21st century.

Today, the company follows the same tradition that Lester Hamai started his business with -SERVICE- to customers, the public and employees alike. Hamai Appliances is an active contributor to the community through donations and non-profit events such as it’s annual Panasonic co-sponsored Lester Hamai Memorial Women’s Golf Tournament They help local people because they are local people. They know first-hand the problems, dreams and needs of Maui’s population.
